Nice to meet you, Saint Mary of the Mills!

I am your new parochial vicar, Fr. Mattia Cortigiani.

I am originally from Empoli, a town in the area of Florence, in Italy (by the way, be patient with my accent!).

I came to the US in 2012 when I was assigned as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Washington, and I immediately fell in love with this country. I love that everything is big and I especially fell in love with some of the most iconic American things, like Root Beer and Dr. Pepper...but do not ask me to drink a milkshake with my burger!

As a newly ordained, I am extremely excited to begin my ministry. I really hope that together with you and from you, I will learn more and more what it means to be a priest and to minister to others. I pray that the Lord will grant me His heart, so as to be able to shepherd all of you with His same care.

Thanks to all of you for your warm welcome. Pray for me. Rest assured of my prayer for you.

May the Virgin Mary, our Mother, guide us all to her Son.

In Christ,

Fr. Mattia Cortigiani
