Have You Received the Sacrament of Confirmation?

If you are a baptized, practicing adult Catholic who has received the Sacrament of Holy Communion but not the Sacrament of Confirmation, we strongly encourage you to prepare for and receive this amazing and powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

**Important: If you are a baptized Catholic who has not received first Communion, if you are not baptized in the Catholic Church, or if you are not baptized at all, we are happy to help you come to the sacraments. However, there is a different process by which you would prepare. Please click here for more information.

Why Receive This Sacrament?

The effects of Confirmation are real and transforming. The Sacrament of Confirmation is “the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.”  This sacrament: increases and strengthens baptismal grace, unites us more firmly to Christ, strengthens the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us, perfects our bond with the Church, and gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to witnesses to Christ!

What Should I Do To Be Confirmed?

To properly prepare adult Catholics for the Sacrament of Confirmation, we offer a 6-session preparation course.  Each year, we hold a course in the spring.

Reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation for adults is normally held on the Solemnity of Pentecost (50 days following Easter Sunday).

If you are an adult interested in preparing for Confirmation, please contact Ali Poteet, Director of Faith Formation, at apoteet@stmaryofthemills.org.
