Communion & Ministry to the Sick

One of the best services we can do is to provide communion to the sick and to pray with them. Our ministry visits the Laurel Regional Hospital, local nursing homes, Morningside Assisted Living and the homebound.

In the last few months, several of our team members have had to retire from this ministry and as a result there are individuals who are not receiving communion on a regular basis. We really need 5-10 more Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to bring Communion to the sick and homebound of our parish family. There are a variety of opportunities to participate in this ministry: a weekly visit to one or more individuals in their home; an area hospital visit to Catholic patients either once a week or once a month (scheduled on a Sunday); a weekly visit to a local rehab or nursing facility; or to assist with group Communion services.

Please consider this ministry, either once a week, once a month, or on a team. Call Marsha Raymond at 301-725-3080 for details. If you would like to serve in this ministry, but are not currently an Extraordinary Minister, we can help you become trained and commissioned!
